We seek not only freedom from external authority (and the consequent mental conditioning) but freedom from inner reaction to authority (which is an expression of vanity).
If you eat some bitter fruit, the moment you realise it is so, you can spit it out.
But you cannot spit out your tongue or a sore stomach.
The infant's vision is pure.
Perhaps even the notion that there is an object external to itself has not arisen in it, because its own ego-sense has not been developed.
