Peace and desirelessness ensure that that service is rendered as God's instrument to his omnipresence.
But service itself is never given up, neither is single-hearted devotion to him.
It is only grace that can remove the 'I'.
Can I, on that score, neglect to do anything?
Then I am accepting and rationalising this mineness.
So I have to struggle hard against it and then come to the precipice where I say, "Lord, not my will, Thy will be done. I don't know how to deal with this. I have done everything possible to overcome it. It is not possible for me. 'Me' cannot overcome 'mine'."
It is then that there is an incarnation of this divine Power within you and that which was not there is realised to be not there.
We discover the truth, only if we have the courage to say, "I can hear but I cannot understand."
We hear, but we do not understand the truth; we think, yet we do not understand the truth.
We console ourselves that we "know".
